ACTING Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, yesterday, urged the Prosecutor, Corporal Venetta Pindar to investigate a complaint about police beating. The complainant, Linden Meusa (no address given) pleaded not guilty to having broken and entered the Welfare Department of the Ministry of Education and stole booty valued $120,000, between March 18 and 22.
Meusa alleged that the police beat him severely with a gun and he has since been spitting blood.
But the Prosecutor successfully objected to bail for the defendant on the ground that he is not a first time offender. Meusa was remanded to prison until May 30.
