IT is with great sadness that the Indian Arrival Committee (IAC) has learnt of the gruesome demise of Mrs. Sharanie Doobay, wife of prominent Medical Practitioner, Dr. Ramsundar Doobay. Mrs. Doobay was discovered in her home bludgeoned to death on Tuesday, May 24, 2011. Her death has come as a shock to the IAC and the wider community. The IAC takes this opportunity to extend deepest condolences to her grieving family, relatives and friends, and wishes them strength through this harrowing and unexpected period.

The IAC also calls on the police to conduct a swift and thorough investigation so that the perpetrator(s) would be made to face the full brunt of the law. The IAC also wishes to note its concern over similar incidents on defenseless Guyanese and other aspects of crime which have caused some discomfort within society.

In this regard, the IAC also wishes to reiterate its previous calls for the security sector to continue to be diligent and unrelenting in its efforts to curb the incidents of crime. The IAC would like to remind all Guyanese of their role in assisting the law enforcements agencies in the execution of their duty.
