Anna Regina flag-raising to mark 45th Independence Anniversary

THE Regional Administration in Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam) will mark Guyana’s 45th Independence Anniversary with a flag-raising ceremony beginning at 06:30 hrs today. The Vice-Chairman, Mr. Vishnu Samaroo said it will be held on the Anna Regina Fire Station tarmac, Essequibo Coast, where ranks of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF), Guyana Police Force (GPF) and Guyana Fire Service (GFS) would be involved in hoisting the Golden Arrowhead.
Coordinator of the activity, Regional Development Officer, Mr. Dhaneshwar Gangoo said the historic function will be attended by members of the Regional Democratic Council (RDC), Anna Regina Town Council (ARTC), Neighbourhood Democratic Councils (NDCs) and other citizens.
He said the progamme will feature poetry recitation, singing of patriotic songs and prayers by Christians, Hindus and Muslims.
A government minister will address the gathering and inspect a Guard of Honour drawn from the disciplined services.
