Former female bank employee among suspects
A FORMER staff member of the defunct Guyana National Cooperative Bank (GNCB) Anna Regina branch is among the suspects in police custody assisting with investigations into the brutal murder of Essequibo businessman Victor Warner. The others are her overseas-based Guyanese husband and two more persons.
The ex-bank employee was arrested along with her spouse after police discovered a quantity of jewellery suspected to have been stolen from the deceased.
The woman, who was questioned for several hours by detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at Anna Regina, on Tuesday, was crying as she was escorted out of the station building in the presence of a large crowd.
She hid her face with a white towel as she entered the courtroom and those waiting for her to make an appearance were disappointed when the magistrate adjourned until May 31.
The suspect couple lives opposite Warner’s business place at Richmond, on the Essequibo Coast Public Road.
