THE words transparency and democracy are used very often in Guyana today and I find it funny that some who religiously preach about these topics give no real importance to them in their daily dealings. People like Norris Witter of the Guyana Trades Union Congress(GTUC) often lecture on democracy and transparency when in his own organisation, these things are non-existent. When was the last time that the GTUC had an audit of its records done? During the 1980s I believe. You would expect that when one preaches on a topic then he will practise what he preaches but that is not so in this case.
