A POLICE constable appeared on a robbery with violence charge before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday.
Seion Taitt (no address given) pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said he committed the offence on May 16, when he robbed Gopaul Mangal of a $54,000 gold chain and, at the time, made use of personal violence on the virtual complainant. Police corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, said the policeman was escorting the victim to Leonora Police Station, West Coast Demerara, when he choked him and took away the jewel.
Taitt was put on $125,000 bail until tomorrow.
