Ramotar to address businessmen at final GMSA luncheon

…body hopes to have round table with all three Presidential Candidates at later date
PPP/C presidential candidate, Donald Ramotar, will speak at the last of three political discourses that the Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association (GMSA) has organised, and which will be held at the Guyana Pegasus at midday on Wednesday.
Ramotar is expected to unveil his plans for further development of the private sector under a PPP/C-led government after the upcoming elections, and to respond to the inevitable slew of questions expected from private business owners.

“GMSA is indeed very heartened by the response of the business community, the major political parties and other stakeholders who have all embraced the series and participated actively. Each previous session which featured the presidential candidates of the AFC and PNC respectively, was attended by a wide cross-section of businessmen and women who seized the opportunity to ask about the respective party’s vision regarding the creation of enabling mechanisms to enhance private sector development in Guyana,” the GMSA said in a press release.
According to the release, the upcoming business luncheon with the PPP/C’s presidential candidate is expected to provide another opportunity for more intriguing interaction.
According to GMSA’s President, Clinton Williams, this series of business luncheons is the first time that the private sector has been afforded the opportunity to engage in close one-on-one interactions with any presidential candidate prior to an election.
“Mr. Williams is hopeful that following the culmination of this three-part series, all three major presidential candidates would be willing to sit in a round-table discussion with members of the private sector and other stakeholders as the audience,” the GMSA release said.
“The business sector in Guyana does indeed see itself as the engine of economic growth, and also as social partners in the development of Guyana. The entire private sector, the umbrella bodies and the membership, believe that the political parties’ engagements with them will subscribe to an atmosphere in which there are candid, rational and pertinent exchanges of ideas during the upcoming general elections. From this will derive workable strategies for development of the social and economic landscape of Guyana,” Williams said in the release.
