NATIONS University is hosting a series of public meetings in Berbice to introduce the MBA programme that they are offering in partnership with the Australian Institute of Business Administration (AIBA). The three meetings on Sunday, May 22 are as follows:
* 10 am: School of Nations, Stanleytown, New Amsterdam
* 1 pm: Port Mourant Training School
* 4 pm: Skeldon, GUYSUCO Compound
AIBA have over 2,000 MBA students at 17 centres in 12 countries, including Trinidad, St Lucia, Jamaica, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam and England. The MBA is fully accredited by the Australian Quality Assurance. It is registered by CRICOS, the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students. It is a member of the International Association of Universities.
In the one month since the MBA programme was first advertised already 22 of the 25 places have been taken. The meetings in Berbice are to give Berbicians the opportunity to take the few places remaining on the MBA programme.
The entire MBA can be completed in 12 months and it is the most economical (by far) MBA programme available to the Guyanese market. The MBA comprises 12 subjects. One subject is studied each month. Three full days of intensive workshop sessions are provided at Nations University each month. These are planned on two Saturdays and one Sunday in the month to allow persons from Berbice (and other areas out of the Georgetown district) the opportunity to participate. This MBA takes a work-based and very practical approach. The students complete one assignment and take one exam per month.
The MBA will begin in August 2011 and only 25 students will be accepted for the course. Only three places are available for the August intake. There will however be two other entry dates during the year for other cohorts of students. Nations is in the process of building a purpose built, air conditioned, lecture room for the programme. It will include DSL internet facilities and up to date audio visual aids.
