BERBICE sleuths are awaiting the results of an autopsy on the body of Grade Six student Stephen Williams, who died after plunging into the Rose Hall Estate punt trench on Saturday.
The St Aloysius Primary pupil left his home at High Dam, Mount Sinai, in company with friends just before midday, to swim in the waterway, which flows through Locaber Village, West Canje, about one mile from his home.
Once at the location, the pre-teen reportedly climbed on a koker and plunged into the trench. Minutes later he was pulled from the trench, unconscious.
Police said the body was clad in a multi-coloured brief.
