Police Commissioner shifted to private room

POLICE Commissioner, Henry Greene has been shifted from the Intensive Care Unit to a private room at a city hospital.
He is battling complications of the digestive system, following one of two surgeries at the private city hospital. Surgery was also performed to mend a ruptured vein in one of his legs.

Hospital sources confirmed that police officers have been deployed to guard his room-side at the health care institution.
While hospital authorities are tight-lipped on the condition of the 57-year old Greene, they have confirmed to demwaves.com that his post-surgery condition is still listed as serious. Only his wife is being allowed to visit him. At least two pastors have visited and prayed for him.
When told about the nature of the surgery and subsequent complications, a medical doctor told demwaves.com that the Police Commissioner could survive if treated with an aggressive regimen of antibiotics.

Assistant Police Commissioner, Leroy Brummel is now responsible for the administration of the Guyana Police Force.

The Police Commissioner has, within the past year, been admitted to the Caribbean Heart Institute for congestive heart failure. Several months ago, while in Linden, for a table-tennis engagement, he had fallen into a semi-conscious state and had to be helped into his vehicle by several persons. He is also said to be hypertensive and has been fighting the effects of obesity for some time now.
Greene took over responsibilities as Police Commissioner on July 24, 2006 when Winston Felix retired from the post.
Greene is a Caribbean-trained lawyer, having successfully pursued a law degree at the University of Guyana and the Certificate of Legal Education at the Hugh Wooding Law School.
The holder of a Distinguished Service Medal (DSM), the Police Commissioner has pursued several professional development courses in the Caribbean and North America.
