Fined $75,000 for damage to property

Jason Herbert (no address given) yesterday appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry to answer a damage to property charge. He pleaded guilty to the charge, which stated that, on May 12, he unlawfully and maliciously damaged louvre windows, one computer screen and one lamp, all valued at  $118,000 property of Herme Munro.
Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, said, on the day in question, the defendant accused the virtual complainant of laughing at him and became annoyed.
Pindar said the defendant went into some bushes and armed himself with an object which he threw into the virtual complainant’s window damaging the items.
The defendant was fined $75,000 or six months imprisonment. He was given a period of 14 days to pay the fine.
