THIS is yet another of several brutal attacks by parasites on a family that is trying to eke out an honest living.
Four armed and masked bandits chopped off part of a businessman’s ear after invading his grocery store at Number 11 Farm, Corentyne at around midnight on Saturday. Deochand Hemchand was brutally chopped and beaten after he resisted the bandits, who eventually fled with a substantial sum of cash, and jewelry. They also made off with several phone cards.
The victim’s three-year-old son witnessed the entire ordeal and remains traumatised and terrorized and after seeing his father in hospital started to scream and had to be taken outside.
Hemchand’s wife said that the stolen cash included the day’s sales and monies that were to be used to pay off debts.
Mrs. Hemchand stated that this is the third time in less than two years that the family has been robbed.
Working hard to pay off debts while marauding terrorists just came and took it all just like that.
Mrs. Hemchand stated that her husband had applied for a firearm for some time now and even had an audience with the Minister of Home affairs, all to no avail.
The woman said that she would like an audience with the President to state their plight.
Again it would appear that only certain citizens can apply for firearms which are granted while others will not even get a second look.
Residents complained about the length of time it took the police to respond. They alleged that calls to 911 went unanswered and they say it took police about 45 minutes to respond.
It would appear as though these phone numbers are showing up with certain names and certain areas, too often now when 911 is called there are no responses or the line is busy.
Or perhaps police knew in advance where robberies as these will take place so the phones are either busy or go unanswered.
One resident said: “The only time we see people (officials) here are when something happens, when the place flood, or some other tragedy and when they want us to vote.
“We need to see the President or we will take matters in our own hands.”
To take matters into one’s own hands is not a wise idea at this time it must be urged.
In certain homes and in a blink of an eye police or army will come to your home and will find that illegal firearm and you will find yourself in a whole heap of problems.
GDF army man David Clark tasked by government in the Buxton operation to find firearms and criminals where none was found despite the fact that criminal terrorists took over Buxton village.
In certain villages security forces will find whatever you have to defend yourself including firearms.
It’s a known fact what residents are saying about seeing officials around voting time or major floods.
Once again Guyanese are asking how many more must be maimed, disfigured or be killed before high-powered weapons training is done and firearms are issued to law-abiding citizens so as to defend their lives and that of their families and properties.
How many more citizens must suffer at the hands of terrorists before serious actions are taken to eliminate these terrorists once and for all?
