Norway’s international climate and forest initiative (NICFI) appears to me to be quite an amorphous entity and its reported position regarding this country’s thrust on the Low Carbon Development Strategy(LCDS) as “unsatisfactory” is simply too superficial to be taken seriously. (Sunday Stabroek, May 8, 2011) Without full knowledge of all the dynamics of the political environment which have been consuming the best efforts of successive governments towards achieving national cohesion over the past 15 years, any conclusions can only be highly questionable, to say the least.

Granted, a casual reading of the, (as reported), release from NICFI can appear to be somewhat factual and responsive to alleged concerns of sections of the populace, in particular regarding the exclusion of the PNCR from the LCDS steering committee but, surely a full review of the inherent machinations that have imperilled the often impassioned pleas from the PPP and its PPP/C government that has kept the racial kettle boiling, will bring to light the ingrained policy of non co-operation employed by the PNCR.

Jumping to conclusions and arriving at obviously misleading positions regarding the true status of government’s conduct of implementation of the various aspects of the regulations governing the LCDS, is definitely not the way to go.
