CITY Treasurer Andrew Meredith appeared in Court yesterday, charged with unlawfully and maliciously assaulting his sister, Roseanne Meredith.
Before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, it was alleged that the defendant committed the offence on April 11. His sibling also faced a similar charge and they, both, pleaded not guilty.
Attorney-at-law Mr. Hukumchand, for the brother, claimed that the sister first abused the former, because the ownership of their mother’s house was transferred to him and there was a scuffle between the siblings.
The defendants were each released on their own recognisance until May 13.
