West Demerara man abducted, beaten by imposters

POLICE are investigating the reported abduction, by two imposters, of a 21-year-old man on Thursday.
The victim, Lennox Pilgrim, of Crane, West Coast Demerara, found himself naked in a trench when he regained consciousness after a beating he suffered at the hands of the duo, who claimed to be Guyana Defence Force (GDF) ranks in plain  clothes.
It is reported that the abducted labourer was alone in his home when his abductors gained entry forcefully and
said they were arresting him in connection with a recent robbery.
Pilgrim said he was pushed out of his house and into a dark- coloured vehicle that was parked outside. He was driven to a nearby sawmill where blows were inflicted on him by four other men who joined the original duo.
However, when he became conscious again, he was in a trench at Nismes, West Bank Demerara, wearing no clothes.
Pilgrim said he walked to a fuel station, from where he telephoned his mother and she took him to  Leonora Police Station and, later, to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where he was treated and sent away.
He said he had injuries to his feet, head and other parts of his body.
Investigators are acting on the victim’s statement that he can identify his kidnappers whose motive is yet to be ascertained.
