Guyana, Brazil business professionals exchange mooted

MEMBERS of the local Private Sector are to be involved in a business professionals international exchange programme through SEBRAE, the private non-profit organisation  which provides support services to small and micro-businesses in Brazil.
It entails a visit to the neighbouring republic by at least six persons from the Guyanese business community with a coordinator and a similar number of Brazilians reciprocating.
The aim is to share information and knowhow between the Brazilians and Guyanese and build partnerships which can accelerate successful economic integration of small and medium size companies in both countries.
A cooperation mechanism can lead to the exchanging of products and services, according to the Brazil promoted initiative.
Students of the University of Guyana (UG) and the University of the State of Roraima in  Brazil are also to be participants in the scheme to be executed by GO-Invest, Private Sector Commission (PSC), Guyana Manufacturing and Services Association (GMSA) and the Linden Chamber of Industry, Commerce and Development (LCICD).
President of LCICD, Mr. Marvin Burns said SEBRAE official Edilueza Sette unveiled the proposal during the recently highly successful Trade Fair and Exposition at Linden, April 29 to May 1.
He said that Sette, one of three SEBRAE members who were in attendance, said Brazilians in the border State of Roraima have proposed the continuing programme to identify and exploit business opportunities with Guyana.
Sette said SEBRAE will offer institutional support for the growth and development of the local small business sector and put forward the proposition, in March last year, following  the hosting of an entrepreneurial fair in Boa Vista later that year, which was
attended by Guyanese in business.
UG students were among those at the Boa Vista fair and they interacted with their counterparts in the University of Roraima as part of ‘Space for Academic Entrepreneurship’.GO-Invest and members of the local Private Sector are currently working on a schedule for the business professionals international and students exchanges.
