TRAINEE nurse Omadara Laman, 27, was fined $10,000 and bonded for a year yesterday, by Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus, at Vreed-en-Hoop Court, West Coast Demerara.
That was after the defendant pleaded guilty to having made use of abusive language, to her mother, Eunice Seepaul, on April 30.
Police Sergeant Sherwin Matthews, prosecuting, said the incident occurred when the virtual complainant was instructed not to strain the rice that was being cooked in their kitchen and, becoming annoyed, used expletives.
The probationer was ordered to apologise to her mother in open Court but the virtual complainant did not accept the apology, stating that her daughter is in the habit of insulting her and threatening to burn down their house.
