-Photographs speak volumes
THE photographs speak for themselves of the tumultuous welcome accorded President Bharrat Jagdeo and Political Advisor and Presidential Candidate of the PPP/C, Mr. Donald Ramotar and the huge turnout on Friday evening at a meeting at the Club Tobago in Queens, New York. This is in spite of every ploy used by opposition elements, the PNCR in particular, to disrupt the meeting at every turn with their heckling and throwing of anti-government slurs and to cause it to fail in achieving its purpose.
According to reports, the event saw hundreds in attendance from a wide cross-section of mainly overseas-based Guyanese, as well as NY City Hall officials and other political heavyweights, who all turned out to lend support to the visiting delegation.
Several of those in attendance, some hailing from Queens and Brooklyn, were heard to remark that they attended the meeting just to commend President Jagdeo and his visiting delegation for the significant progress being made in all sectors across Guyana having seen it for themselves while visiting back home over the past few years.
They were also heard encouraging their fellow countrymen not to fall prey to those wanting to destabilize Guyana’s continued growth for narrow political gains, as they were quite impressed by the fact that Guyana was able to withstand the effects of the global financial crisis and still find the means to further consolidate its development.
