Greene hits hat-trick as Russians maul $100 Car in knockout round
ODINGO Greene struck the first hat- trick of the inaugural Banks DIH-sponsored Linden ‘Guinness Greatest of the Streets’ knockout round, as Amelia’s Ward Russians mauled $100 Car Park 7-0 to advance to the quarterfinals of the tournament.
Greene found the back of the net in the 5th, 7th and 15th minutes and, along with double strikes from Travis Watterton (9th,19th) and Jermaine Corlette’s (3rd, 11th), ensured their team stayed in contention for the $400 000 first prize.
In other results, Darrel George nailed home back-to-back goals as Retrieve Unknowns defeated Top Class 3-1, with George’s double coming in the 4th and 5th minutes, after Richard Bradford had sent the victors into the lead, one minute before George struck, with Junior Angel scoring the lone goal for Top Class.
Attackers on the back of Troy Duncan’s 17th minute strike defeated Star Boys 1-0, Goal Getters defeated Cherokee Park 2-1 on penalty kicks, the same score Speightland United used to defeat Ituni, after they played to a 1-1 score line at the end of regulation time.
Michael Ramdeholl struck in the 3rd minute for Speightland United before Shawn Cameron neutralised his goal five minutes later, forcing the game to penalty kicks.
Eagles recorded a 1-0 victory over High Stars, with Trenton Banger finding the back of the net in the 5th minute, following which Coomacka continued their impressive run in the tournament by defeating Team 25 2-0, thanks to goals from Adrian Edmondson (13th) and Kester Thom (14th).
Bad Boys and Half Mile/One Mile played to a 1-1 draw, with Steve Semimore opening the account for Bad Boys in the 5th minute, only to see Charles Harvey grab the equaliser seven minutes later. With both teams even at the end of regulation time and penalty kicks, sudden death was used to decide the victor, with Half Mile/One Mile advancing.
