Murder case postponed pending assignment of defence counsel
MURDER accused Budram Persaud called ‘David’, had his trial, at the Demerara Assizes, postponed to May 3, after he told Justice Roxanne George he had not yet obtained the services of a lawyer. The judge informed the prisoner that, in accordance with the law, counsel would be assigned to him by the State.
Persaud is indicted for having, on August 16, 2006, murdered Rubeena Sammy and his case was called because another, for attempted murder, could not begin.
