AFTER sitting through the M&CC reconvened statutory meeting on Monday, one could only compliment the Stabroek News Editorial ‘Town Clerk’ last weekend.
I heard from two shouting female councillors the unbelievable – holding up law books to state what is the law (sic) while correcting the minutes.
The Mayor tried to explain that minutes had nothing to do with law, but were intended to be a faithful reflection of what was said or the faithful reproduction of the proceedings of the previous meeting.
The female, feline-type fighters failed to see the logic, but went on to object to a grammatical correction offered by the Mayor.
One shouting female councillor then went on to state that since the leader of the GGG had rejoined the PNC there was no GGG.
The fact is the Georgetown City Council is still composed of GGG, PNC and PPP members – that is how the Council is comprised until an election.
One assumes membership of a Council required some level of intelligence, but that seems not to be the case. I lost all the regard and respect for the two female crusaders.
Only God knows why there is no concentration on fixing the roads and clogged drains in the city instead of this ceaseless bickering over nothing.
