EDDIE Williams (no address given), was yesterday remanded to prison on a charge of escaping from lawful custody.
He appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton and was not required to plead to the charge, which stated that, on February 21, at the Camp Street Prison, being in lawful custody as a remanded prisoner on a capital offence of murder, he escaped from that custody.
Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting requested that the accused be remanded and a date for the Administration of Justice Act to be applied.
The accused, on hearing that he will be remanded to Camp Street Prison, begged the magistrate not to send him there and requested to go at Brickdam lock-ups instead.
However, the magistrate informed the accused that it is not in her power to decide where he goes.
Williams was remanded and the case will be called again on May 30.
No escape this time for remand prisoner who previously escaped from Camp Street Prison
