Four teams advance to knockout round

FOUR teams, namely Attackers, Speightland, Cherokee Park and Goal Getters, have all advanced to the knockout round of the inaugural Banks DIH-sponsored Linden ‘Guinness Greatest of the Streets’ futsal competition which continued last weekend in the mining town.
In the latest round of action, Speightland got past South Stars 2-1 and Rough and Rugged 5-2, Cherokee Park defeated Victory Valley Warriors 4-1 after being held to a nil-all draw with Pokerburg.

Attackers and Hardknocks drew 1-1 before the former drubbed Eagles four-nil, while Goal Getters drew both of their matchups against Wisroc and Scheme 1-1.
Jesse Waldron and Clive Allicock were the goalscorers for Speightland when they defeated South Stars, whose lone goal came off the boot of Devon Greene, while in their encounter against Rough and Rugged, Waldron and Michael Anthony got double strikes with Allicock scoring the other goal, even as Orville Mitchell and Rodwell Pilleu netted for the losers.
After being held to a draw by Pokerburg, Cherokee Park bounced back with their 4-1 drubbing over Victory Valley Warriors, with John Waldron and Dexter Smith recording double strikes while Owen Melville pulled one back for Victory Valley Warriors.
Attackers drew 1-1 with Hardknocks, with Reon Venture and Wayne Milo finding the back of the net for the respective teams, before the former drubbed Eagles four-nil, thanks a double strike from David Gray, along with Aaron Harry and Keith Bailey’s goals.
Goal Getters failed to live up to their name in both of their matches which ended in a 1-1 stalemate against Wisroc and Scheme respectively.
Scheme returned to maul Wisroc 4-1, with Marlon Franklyn, Al Chester, Ryan Crandon and Michael Wills being their goalscorers, with Deshawn Joseph responding once for Wisroc.
Thanks to a double strike from Shawn Cameron, Ituni were able to defeat Coomacka 2-1, with Adrian Edmondson finding the back of the net for the losers, while Team 25 edged Ripping Bullets 2-1 in an epic battle.
Kennard Simon, Keon Sears combined for the winnings strikes for Team 25 while Ripping Bullets got their consolation from Shawn Seaforth, following which Retrieve Unknowns blanked Sheriff Squad 2-0 thanks to goals from Dannel George and Lindon Simon.
Hi-Stars flew high with their 3-0 triumph over Street Vibes, while Half Mile/One Mile held a clean sheet against Scheme whom they defeated 2-0 thanks to Charles Harvey’s brace.
Action in the tournament is set to continue tomorrow at the Sliver City Hard Court, with Trainline Warriors opposing Hard Watts, Fire Storm taking on Ituni, Coomacka going up against Richmond Hill, Hi-Stars facing Silver Bullets, Street Vibes tackling Star Boys and Ripping Bullets matching skills with Sheriff Squad.
