PNCR should provide evidence of discrimination

I HAVE noted that the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR) made a statement in the media calling on the Barama Company Limited to be fair in the re-employment process for those workers who were laid off last year, in an article in the media captioned, ‘Barama must not discriminate in re-employment process – PNCR’.
I wish to direct a request to the General Secretary of the party Mr. Oscar Clarke, since his party is making this call and is subtly saying that the Opposition PNCR has some information of discrimination in the re-employment process at Barama.
So, as a responsible citizen, I am kindly asking Mr. Clarke and his party to provide such information to the relevant authorities or to even make them public since the Constitution of Guyana states that no agency or organisation among others should discriminate against employees.
Guyanese, I am sure, would like to be aware of these issues, especially if it’s discrimination based on ethnicity/race, so the Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) can be informed to launch an investigation. I hope the PNCR has this information because it will be very irresponsible for a political party to make public calls based on its assumptions.
We look forward to a response or to see some information made public by the PNCR on this issue, since it was raised by the party. However, Guyanese would be very disappointed if these claims/calls are just to score political mileage and make us believe that the party is doing its job.
