Proprietor of Chester’s Fried Chicken robbed

Businessman Safraz Khan, 29, escaped with his life following a robbery and kidnapping attempt on Thursday night at his home.
He told the Guyana Chronicle yesterday that in all his 13 years in business, he has never had such a scary experience such as, when three bandits waylaid him when he arrived home from his business place at New Road, Vreed-en-Hoop, West Coast Demerara.
Khan added that he left Chester’s Fried Chicken after securing the business and collecting the keys from the security guard at about 22:30hrs. As he arrived home at Bella Dam, West Bank Demerara, he was opening his gate when he was confronted by two men, one armed with a knife and the other with a gun.
Khan said that he began screaming loudly as he saw another man rummaging through his vehicle.
The other two ordered him to shut up as they gagged him with duct tape and relieved him of his wallet which contained his ATM cards and $25,000. From his pockets they removed his Samsung cellular phone and $40,000 in cash.
Khan said, “If I hadn’t screamed and alerted my family members, who saw what was happening, the bandits would have taken me away. I realised that they had intended to.”
The businessman stated that after the robbers realized that Khan’s family members were looking at them, they ran away and he made a dash for his backyard.

Khan noted that the robbers all seemed to be under 25.
Up to press time, three men were detained at the La Grange Police Station, assisting with investigations.
