RHT Pepsi going for triple crown against Albion on Sunday
DEFENDING champions Rose Hall Town Pepsi will be looking to make it three of three when they oppose Albion Sports Club in the final of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB)-organised, Spready’s Bakery-sponsored Under-19 50 overs final at their very own Area ‘H’ ground on Sunday.
The long-standing friendly rivalry between the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTYSC) under which the RHT Pepsi plays, and the Albion Cricket Club is anticipated when the two sides clash in a match that can be described as one of very high standard, as both teams have several promising and future Berbice cricketing stars in their lineup.
The home team will be led by National Under-19 opener Dominic Rikhi and he would be supported in the batting department by Trevor Thomas, Parmanand Narine, Shawn Pereira, Kelon Sinclair, Hemchand Kalloo, the exciting Vidal Crandon and West Indies female player Shemaine Campbelle.
Their bowling attack would be led by pacers Jamal Jarvis and George Hughes but the bulk of the bowling is expected to be done by National Under-15 leg-spinner Shawn Pereira, with support from off-spinners Rikhi, Narine, Lewis and Lenny Sanichar.
National Under-19 player Harrinarine Chattergoon will lead the talented Albion team and will be joined by exciting Kandasammy Surujnarine, Sharaz Ramcharran, Verapen Permaul, Andy Mohan, Shauraz Khan and David Latchya in a strong batting lineup.
The visitors’ bowling attack is basically all-spin, with off-spinner Chattergoon and National Under-15 left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie being the main bowlers, receiving support from off-spinner Permaul, the younger brother of West Indies ‘A’ player Veerasammy Permaul, Avinash Wajid, Latchya and Ramcharran who are all capable spinners.
The winning team will receive $40 000 and the  trophy and the runners-up $30 000 with other incentives, including the Man-of-the-Final, being shared at the presentation ceremony that is set to take place after the match.
Representative of the sponsor, Nazimul Fudadin would meet the teams before the game and will take part in the presentation ceremony, while the umpires for the match which gets under way at 09:30 h will be Imran Moakan and Shawn Coonjah with Roshan Moakan as standby.
