Significant progress made in the areas of housing, water

OUR people should take a moment and reflect on the many developments they see taking place in the country. In the housing and water sectors, there was massive progress made. Many of our communities never had access to portable water, or they had to go and fetch the water for long distances. Mr. Editor, this has since been changed and residents can get water in their homes at a very low cost compared to other Caricom countries. One other area that we should all be proud about is the transformation of the housing sector. Many poor families can now boast about owning their own homes. And they can use their land titles and apply for loans to do business and so on.

The fact that they can claim ownership of land is itself a tool for empowerment. Mr. Editor, our country is on the move to become a modern nation. We must not be caught up with the pessimists who do not want to see progress, we must take note of the many positive things that are happening amongst us, and work hard every day to continue building our country.
