Two simple larceny defendants granted bail
TWO men on simple larceny charges were both granted bail when they appeared before Magistrate Sherdel Isaacs-Marcus at Vreed-en-Hoop Court yesterday. One of them, Ryan Fraser, 26, of Lot 8 DeKindren Old Road, is charged with having stolen a $30,000 cell phone from Jaiprakash Basdeo at Meten-Meer-Zorg.
He pleaded not guilty and was ordered to post $30,000 surety until May 30, the same date on which Rakesh Sattaur, of East Meten-Meer-Zorg, also on West Coast Demerara, must make his next appearance.
The allegation against Sattaur, a fisherman, to which he pleaded not guilty, as well, is that on April 7, he stole $50,000 from Astraf Alli.
He was allowed pre-trial freedom on a $20,000 bond.
