SAPPHAIRE Bamfield (no address given) appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday, on a burglary charge.
He pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said, on April 2, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Karen Vazailio and stole booty valued $511,000.
Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, said the defendant and virtual complainant are known to each other and the latter had secured her home before going out but returned to discover the loss.
The prosecutor objected to bail for the defendant, on the ground that he and Vazailio live in the same building.
But the objection was overruled and Bamfield was allowed pre-trial freedom, on $100,000 surety, once he removes from the house he shares with Vazailio.
The case was postponed to April 11.
