AFTER two years of silence, two Annandale, East Coast Demerara neighbours were ordered by Magistrate Shurdell Isaacs-Marcus to apologise to each other and be their ‘brother’s keeper’ after they were found guilty at the Vigilance Magistrate’s court for offences committed against the other. According to Police, on the 14th November, 2008, Patricia Dhanraj along with her husband Dhanraj (only name given) used abusive and threatening language against their neighbour, Sarojinie Rooplall, after accusing her of stealing flowers they had planted for religious purposes.
Rooplall was also charged with using abusive and threatening language against the Dhanrajs, all stemming from the same story.
In the end, they were all ordered to make amends with each other and then placed on one-year bond to keep the peace, failing which, either party will be subjected to six months in prison.(Odella Patterson)
