THE Indian Arrival Committee (IAC) provided flood relief in communities along the swollen Mahaica and Mahaicony Creeks on Tuesday last. A total of 160 hampers which included one box of biscuits, soap powder, bleach and other essential grocery items were delivered to flood- affected residents; 75 hampers were distributed to Mahaica Creek residents while the remaining 85 hampers were handed out in the Mahaicony Creek. The villages visited were Grass Hook, Big Baiboo, Macuba, Gordon Table and Pine Ground.
The IAC members were assisted in this exercise by Ministry of Agriculture personnel and officials from Region Five (Mahaica/Berbice). This is the most recent IAC flood relief effort in the Mahaica and Mahaicony Creeks which go back to 2005.
