Velox goal helps Stars into quarter-final

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC) – Veteran Vincentian midfielder Kendall Velox was on target last weekend as he helped fire North East Stars to a 2-0 victory FC South End and into the quarter-finals of the Trinidad and Tobago Pro League Digicel Pro Bowl. Playing at the Larry Gomes Stadium, Stars began brightly and took the lead from the spot in the 12th minute through Anthony Wolfe, after midfielder Kaydion Gabriel was bundled over in the 18-yard box by Eddison Smart.
On the stroke of halftime Velox made it 2-0 with a powerful effort which Aquelius Sylvester got his hand to but was unable to stop.
Stars continued to dominate in the second-half and should have added to their tally but Sean Fraser was guilty of a glaring miss after being set up by Wolfe.
Five minutes from the final whistle Stars were reduced to ten men when Wolfe was shown two yellow cards within the space of seconds by referee Michael Ragoonath, the first for a foul then another for dissent.
