Squinse Mc Lennon murder case ( voir dire) nearing end

MURDER accused Squince Mc Lennon called ‘Killer’ whose trial for the alleged murder of Anson Melville called ‘Lepper’ began some days ago at the Demerara Assizes with a voir dire ( a trial within a trial), in the absence of the jury, is nearing an end. State Prosecutor Mrs. Judith Gildharie-Mursalin in association with other State Counsel, Miss Konyo Sandiford has closed her case for the Prosecution and Attorney-at-Law,Mr. Basil Williams has completed his submissions to Justice Madame Dawn Gregory, who is conducting the voir dire to determine the admissibility of the alleged caution statement said to be given to the police by the accused.
Witnesses have been led on both sides and the lawyers have made submissions to Justice Madame Dawn Gregory who is conducting the voir dire to determine whether the alleged caution statement given to the police by the accused was obtained freely and voluntarily and in accordance with the Judge’s Rules.
The judge is expected to deliver her ruling on the voir dire (a trial within a trial) today.
