POLICE have reported that the suspect in the murder of Special Constable Neburt Isaacs-Bacon, whose decomposed and mutilated body was discovered in a trench at ‘D’ Field, Sophia, on Sunday, turned himself in and was taken into custody at Turkeyen Station, also in Greater Georgetown. The report followed a post mortem examination, performed on the victim by pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh, which established that the cause of death was asphyxiation due to a compression injury to the neck, compounded by blunt trauma to the head.
The detained man was accompanied to the station by attorney-at-law, Mr. Maxwell Mc Kay and the investigations are continuing.
Isaacs-Bacon remains were found a short distance away from her ‘D’ Field, Sophia home, with her red bicycle beside her.
She had been last seen alive when she left her workplace last Thursday. Called ‘Boogie’ and in her late forties, the woman is suspected to have been attacked by a man from whom she was estranged. It is reported that they had several domestic abuse cases in court, after she had been beaten.
Police are working on the theory that the victim was killed while making her way home on Thursday night but no one in the area recalled hearing any screams.
A lad, who saw her bicycle, was in the process of retrieving it from in the water when he made the discovery of the human body and alerted residents, who summoned the police.
