ACTING Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry sentenced Ramchand Persaud (no address given) to three years imprisonment yesterday, for drug trafficking.
In addition, the prisoner was fined $10,000, after he pleaded guilty to being in possession, on March 4, along the Soesdyke/Linden Highway,  of 50 grammes cannabis (marijuana) for the purpose.
Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, said cops on patrol discovered a camp where Persaud was found with the prohibited substance.
In answer to the magistrate, the convict said he uses the narcotic for his sickness.
