WICB sends birthday wishes to Sir Everton

ST JOHN’S, Antigua – President of the West Indies Cricket Board Dr Julian Hunte sent birthday wishes to legendary former West Indian batsmen Sir Everton Weekes.
Born in Barbados in 1925, Sir Everton celebrated his 86th birthday yesterday.

“On behalf of the Board and the entire West Indies cricket family I send congratulations and warm wishes to Sir Everton on his 86th birthday,” Dr Hunte said.
“A batsman of the absolute finest pedigree, Sir Everton served West Indies cricket with distinction on the field and has made a significant contribution off the field as well. We thank him profusely and look forward to his continued contribution, counsel and wisdom,” Dr. Hunte said.
“Notably, Sir Everton looks remarkably well for a man who is merely 14 away from a century,” Dr Hunte said.
Sir Everton, one of the famed 3 Ws – along with Sir Frank Worrell and Sir Clyde Walcott – played 48 Tests, scoring 4 455 runs at a remarkable average of 58.61.
In an international career spanning 1948 to 1958 Sir Everton scored 15 Test centuries, five of which were made in consecutive Tests and the highest of which was 207. Sir Everton also scored 19 half-centuries.
