POLICE have arrested an ex-convict following the recovery of some booty stolen from the Cornerstone Christian Brethren Church in Harkman’s Lane, New Amsterdam, Berbice.
Acting on information received, detectives from Central Police Station went to the suspect’s Smythfield home yesterday and took possession of a music mixer and two microphones.
The man in custody, subsequently, took the cops to another house, at Lot 32 Mudflat, Stanleytown, where more articles, suspected to have unlawfully obtained, were found.
However, an outboard engine, alleged sold for $125,000, remains missing, since the burglary, two weeks ago, in which church property, worth $2M were carted off from the recently rehabilitated place of worship, during the wee hours of a rainy morning.
Church Pastor Courtney Adolph had reported that he secured the building the night before but returned the following afternoon to find an object he previously discarded and discovered that the front windows were broken in the burglary.
The $1M outboard motor had been purchased to facilitate access to affiliated churches in Berbice riverine communities.
