Industry, Enteprise villagers also lament flooding

RESIDENTS of Industry Crown Dam, East Coast Demerara, yesterday, complained of flood waters invading their homes, because of an overtopping canal at the back of the village.
When the Guyana Chronicle visited the area, almost every yard was inundated following continuous rainfall over the weekend.

Villagers said they awoke on Sunday morning to find water in the bottom flats of their homes and had to move household appliances and other things to higher levels.
The flooding also covered the roadway and several bridges were submerged while rearers lamented the loss of some livestock. They said only ducks seem to enjoy the situation as some fowls lay dead in the water that entered their pens.
The complainants were, however, grateful to see sun yesterday but are anxious to clean up after the flood waters recede.
Some said they lost flower plants while others pointed to the loss of household furniture as they cooked in the upstairs of their homes.

Meanwhile, at Enterprise, also on East Coast Demerara, the complaints were similar and school was suspended after the water level rose following the weekend accumulation.
