I REFER to a letter from the Editor of the Chronicle newspaper, dated 18th  February, 2011, titled ‘Apology from the Editor’, wherein the Editor apologised to the Chairman of the Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC) for a letter published earlier this month titled, ‘Pointed questions on grenade incident need to be answered’. I wish to respond by stating emphatically that I am the writer of that letter and bear full responsibility for the contents thereof. Anyone therefore having difficulty with, or seek clarity of anything within the contents of that printed communication – and that includes the Chairman of the ERC, or whomsoever, can contact me at the email submitted to you, sir.
I do not intend to lecture to anyone on the ethics of journalism, hence I hasten to add that the name Neil Adams is not a pseudonym and all articles submitted to your newspaper are factual, honest and above board, so they are in no way misleading, and I stand by every word that I write.
Further to it is the fact that I should not, or will not be muzzled, let alone bow to idle threats from anyone as I set about to bring the truth to the Guyanese public on an issue. In light of the above, I shall schedule a meeting with the Editor of the Chronicle,  as well as the Chairman of the ERC on my next visit to my homeland this Easter.

EDITOR’S NOTE:  While Chronicle applauds the courage and principles displayed by Mr. Adams when he writes on issues guided by his convictions, and Mr. Adams is indeed a very valued and prolific contributor to this newspaper, we would ask every letter-writer, including Mr. Adams, to take cognizance that Chronicle at all times seeks to promote peace and harmony in Guyana, in line with the mandate of the Ethnic Relations Commission. Added to that is the fact that this newspaper at all times attempt to adhere to the laws of the land as enshrined in, and governed by our constitution; so management is seeking the kind cooperation of our valued contributors to our letters pages to use temperate language to convey their sentiments or else be subjected to censorship of our editorial staff.  Thank you.
