I WRITE to congratulate President Bharrat Jagdeo and Minister Robeson Benn for the swift response to the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC) issue in relation to corruption, but what about the official in Region Ten, who is widely-known for his corrupt acts, who is dubbed  “the God of Region Ten?” Is he above the law? What I am trying to expose is not hearsay or opinion, but it is the blatant abuse of power for personal gain and riches by a senior official of Region Ten.
I have seen several letters with ‘evidence listed’ that were circulated around Linden, which had indications that copies were sent to the politicians, including the Office of the President, about the corrupt activities at Region Ten involving the said official. Yet, to date, nothing has been done.
From all indications, it seems as though Mr. Woolford will be removed as Commissioner (ag) shortly for not going out into the field and investigating the reported alleged corruption in the sector that he manages. But will there be a re-organisation in the Linden administration in view of well-known corruption at this region?
