… nine more matches on this evening
THE Linden/Georgetown bus park was the place to be last weekend as the Young Achievers 20/20 Sports Bar kicked off their Stag Beer Inter-ward street football.
Eighteen teams were on show last Sunday night with all having the common goal of claiming the tournament’s first prize of $200 000, but like the age-old saying goes “many are called, but few are chosen”. “It seems like we will have to hold the final at the National Park, because it’s not looking like any venue in Linden can take off the crowd,” organiser Anthony White joked, referring to the large crowd that witnessed the exit of nine teams from the tournament.
Some of the local stars in Linden, turned out in full force to represent their respective communities and tonight, at the same venue, more excitement is promised.
In the opening game from 16:30 h, Mines United will face Hill Top/West Watooka Rockers; Christianburg All-Stars will square off against Silvertown Bullets and Excitement Boys #2 will come up against Topp Class.
Second-place finishers will pocket $100 000 while third-placers get $50 000. The tournament is being sponsored by Ansa McAl under their Stag Beer Brand.
