PEPFAR Poster Contest – “Working Together to Fight AIDS”

Today is the deadline for submissions
The United States Embassy, Georgetown, has announced that today is the deadline for submission of entries to the PEPFAR Poster Contest.  Focusing on the theme “Working Together to Fight AIDS,” the PEPFAR Poster Contest is a voluntary activity seeking to involve young people in the fight against HIV/AIDS through self-expression.
Each poster entry must be accompanied by a completed application form.  The application form and the rules of the poster contest can be found on the Embassy’s website at: http://georgetown.usembassy.gov/.  Participants should submit their posters and application forms to the branch of the National Library or Ministry of Education regional office in their area.
The contest winners will be selected by on-line voting, and the winning piece of artwork from each of three age groups (ages 5 to 9, 10 to 15, and 16 to 20) will receive a netbook and a certificate, signed by Ambassador Eric Goosby, U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator.
Local winners will be announced on March 13, 2011, and the winning entries will be highlighted through poster shows, press releases, website features, and exhibits.  The top entries will also be included in a global contest, whereby the top entry in each age group will receive a backpack of art supplies.  The Global Winners will be announced by Friday, April 29, 2011.
The U.S. President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) Poster Contest in Guyana is sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in collaboration with the Ministries of Health, Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, and the Guyana National Library.
