In Region Two…
RESIDENTS along the public road at Cotton Field, Essequibo Coast, are appealing to the police and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to relieve them of a serious nuisance in the community. The complainants said the source is the noise from a mechanical workshop, from where the sounds of banging are heard from as early as 06:00 hrs and continues through nightfall.
Some people, especially the elderly, claim they are unable to sleep at nights and suffer from stress, high blood pressure and other health problems.
Other complaints are that schoolchildren cannot study in silence and dust from the factory is invading homes.
Villagers said several complaints have been made to the Anna Regina Town Council and the Regional Environmental Health Department in Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam) but no action has been taken.
