A MAN has been charged with unlawful wounding after it was alleged that he burnt his girlfriend on her face and buttocks with a hot iron. Troyden Reece, 22, of Lot 127 Campbell Street, Albouystown, Georgetown, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry and pleaded not guilty to the offence, particulars of which said it was committed, on January 25, when he unlawfully and maliciously inflicted grievous bodily harm on Tanesha James.
Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, said the defendant and the virtual complainant shared an intimate relationship but, on that day, a heated argument developed between them over a text message on a cellular phone.
The Prosecutor said, at the time, the defendant had the heated iron in his hand and he used it on the woman.
On an application, for reasonable bail, by Defence Counsel Lawrence Harris, surety was set at $100,000 until February 7.
