IT is no secret that general election is looming on the political horizon and will be held shortly. It is on this note that a wide array of pretenders have presented themselves to the public for consideration to be chosen as president. I, therefore, feel compelled to reiterate what I have said in a previous letter to the local press, mainly, that the crux of the problem is the enactment of an appropriate programme for the wellbeing of all Guyanese.
The choice of a candidate for the presidency is of secondary importance and will depend on the ability and integrity of the candidate to enact the programme voted for by the masses.
This concept will be readily accepted by all persons of goodwill. A negation of this concept must be seen as an indictment rendering the person unsuitable for the position of president.
The people look forward to the programmes the candidates will present.
Confidence exists that truth and justice will eventually triumph and an appropriate leader will emerge. If needs be, a “Deus ex Machina” will appear.
