Region Two announces Mashramani programme starting January 24

THE Education Department Children’s Masquerade Band and Dance competitions will kick off Mashramani celebrations in Region Two
(Pomeroon/Supenaam) on January 24.
A release, from the Regional Administration, said the activities will be staged under the theme ‘Showcasing our culture,
sustaining our pride in 2011’ and involve children from of all nursery, primary and secondary schools across the Region.
The release said nursery schools pupils will compete on Monday, January 24 at the Anna Regina Community Centre Ground, those
from primary schools on Wednesday, January 26 and secondary schools students on Friday, January 28, at the same venue.
Regional Development Officer, Mr. Daneshwar Gangoo, is coordinating the programme in the Region and the Department of
Education is sponsoring an essay and art competition.
He said all Mashramani events will be hosted at Anna Regina Community Centre Ground.
Gangoo said the Regional Administration is also organising an Impromptu Speech Competition, art gallery, a Mash Heritage show
in all the nine Amerindian communities in the Region, a Disabled People’s Competition, a Fun Day and annual road relay race.
He said, on Mash Day, the Regional Administration will host its flag-raising ceremony at 07:00 hrs on Anna Regina Fire Station
tarmac and the Float Parade and Road Show involving revellers on the public thoroughfare from Three Friends bridge to Anna Regina
Community Centre Ground.
A grand cultural presentation is also billed for the same ground during the celebrations, the release said.
