SALES Clerk at Geet’s Enterprise on Croal Street, Stabroek, Georgetown, Amrita Singh appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday, charged with simple larceny.
The defendant (no address given) pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that, last October 28, she stole a gold chain and pendant, valued $380,000,. property of Quacy Mc Kay.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the defendant and the virtual complainant shared an intimate relationship and they had gone into to a city hotel when he took off his jewellery to go into the bathroom.
The Prosecutor said, after Mc Kay had taken a bath, an argument erupted between them and she left to purchase a bottle of water but did not return and he discovered the chain missing.
Singh was put on $80,000 bail until January 21.
