WITH respect to the article in the Kaieteur News Friday January 14, 2011
captioned “Barticians displeased with erratic court arrangements”, permit me to provide certain, on the spot, information to set the record straight about certain speculations so contained therein.
Firstly, no one was forced to leave because the Magistrate was not present. Bystanders were indeed made to understand that the Magistrate was coming to Bartica on the T&HD ferry. Why the Honourable Magistrate chose to do so is totally within the ambit of her personal convenience. Since last year mention was made of increased Magistrate Court sessions for Bartica. To date the Honourable Chancellor of the Judiciary has mandated the Bartica Magistrate Court to convene weekly Court sessions every Thursday from 15:00 hours and on Fridays from 09:00 hours until further notice.
Secondly, Clerk of the Bartica Magistrate Court last week Wednesday January 5, 2011 did inform the court formally of the suspension of court sessions to Thursday January 13, 2011.
Thirdly, all matters that were scheduled to be heard for Thursday January 13, 2011 were heard and there was also a sentencing.
Herein I now choose to compliment the Magistrate for the historically sterling and supreme results that she notably accomplished in the Bartica Magistrate Court last Thursday January 13, 2011.
Bartica Magistrate Court was in session on January 13
