BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (CMC) – Two new players have been named in a 14-man Combined Campuses and Colleges squad to contest next month’s Caribbean Twenty20 Championship in Antigua and Barbados. Selectors have opted for Barbadian batsman Kyle Hope and Jamaican all-rounder Nkrumah Bonner in the unit that will be led by experienced top order batsman Romel Currency.
Hope is an attractive 22-year-old right-hander who played a single first class game earlier this year while Bonner, 21, is a strong leg-spinning all-rounder who has played for West Indies Under-19s.
No room has been found for former captain Omar Phillips, a steady member of the side and who has already played two Tests.
The side will be again boosted by the presence of player/coach Floyd Reifer, big-hitting opener Martin Nurse and seasoned off-spinner Ryan Austin.
CCC are set to play in Group A alongside Jamaica, Guyana, Windward Islands and English County side Somerset, in the tournament that runs from January 10 to 23.
They will feature in the tournament opener against the Windward Islands at the Vivian Richards Cricket Stadium.
