Potaro Strikers light up Bartica Football Festival

… semi-finals on tonight
POTARO Strikers showed no mercy for Itaballi Stars in the opening game of the Bartica Football Association’s (BFA) second annual Christmas Football Festival being staged at the Community’s ground.
Last Monday night the Strikers hammered Itaballi 10-0 after Rising Stars gained a walkover from Lazio in the scheduled Tournament opener.
Leading the onslaught for Potaro was a ‘razor-sharp’ Quason Gillette who netted half of the goals while there were two each for Morris Waddle and Malcom Agostos and one for Kurt Spencer to complete the rout.
Potaro will now match skills with Rising Stars in the first semi-final set for tonight. The other semi-final, to follow, will feature the winners of last night’s two remaining first round games of the 8-team competition, which has a 1st prize cash incentive worth half-a-million dollars.
Last night’s matchups brought together Rivers View and Wolves United in game one and in the nightcap Netballers tackled defending Champs, Bartica Beacons.
In the Championship match set for Christmas night the losing side will collect two hundred thousand dollars while the losing semifinalists will cash in on $50 000 each.
